" To be successful you need to understand what success is. Everyone has their own definition of success. Don't let other people's opinions of success affect yours. Only you will know what you really want. Don't work hard toward someone else's success, work towards your own success. Remember success does not necessarily mean having loads of money. Many people are highly successful without having a lot of money. It really depends on what their definition of success is. Begin by defining what is your success? What do you want to achieve? Sit down, have a think and write all your thoughts down. I like to define my success because only then will I know what being successful really means. Once you know what your success is, then you can work backwards on what you need to do in order to get there. Set your own path. It might be hard to have one clear definition and this is perfectly fine. So I look into all aspects of life and break down my definition into smaller chunks to make it easier. My definition of success is to have a completely balanced life where all forces are in equilibrium. To achieve this I need to have success in areas of my life that are important to me: Success in health, success in family, success in friendship, success in wealth, success in society. Success in health means looking after my health through proper rest, nutrition, exercise and meditation. Success in family means being able to raise a happy, strong and united family. My kids will be able to explore every opportunity and experience in life. Success in friendship means being able to have friends that I can depend on and who can depend on me. Having friends who are there for each other through ups and downs. Success in wealth means being financially free so money does not control me. Success in society means making any positive impact on society. As you can see, there are many definitions to success and its ok to have multiple defintions of success for yourself as long as you know clearly what you want to achieve. Once you have a clear understanding, you can set yourself short term, medium term and long term goals to reach your success. Regularly review your defintions as these may change along the way. Remember to take small wins & celebrate your successes along the way. It is more about the journey rather than the end goal! Good Luck! Defining your own version of success is the key component to your internal contentment. There is an old saying- “beauty lies in the eyes of beholder”. You have to use the same law when you are defining success. If you keep your focus on the others' idea of success, then you can't accomplish it. Likewise, without going deep inside yourself, you can't define your success. God is creative. That's why he has made every people differently. Thus, I don't think there is no reason to compare. Rather you should set your own personal and professional desires in order attain greater accomplishment.
